My first Colorado Elk Hunt and it will not be my last. Mountaineer Outfitters are very professional and the hospitality was great. We covered a lot of ground and seen lots of legal bulls and trophy bulls. I was fortunate enough to kill a huge 6x6. Greg, Cassie and Brian do a great job of guiding and putting you in the right spot. Now I am ready for another year of hunting Elk with Mountaineer Outfitters. Thanks again you guys do an excellent job.

I had THE time of my life 4th season hunting with Mountaineer Outfitters this past week. Greg, Cassie, and Brian are all fantastic, knowledgable guides that will go above and beyond to try to get you to an elk. This was my first elk hunt, and definitely won’t be my last. I have seen probably close to 100 elk this week. We never left camp without breakfast, and a pack lunch. We never came back to camp to a cold tent, and without a hot meal ready! Thanks to Greg, Cassie, Brian, and Melinda for the hospitality and working day in and day out to make our hunting trip the best!

This was my first guided hunt and it was amazing. I can't wait to go back. Greg, Cassie, Brian and Audra were all great hosts. We hunted hard, ate like kings, and laughed our butts off. Everything was first class and they put us on a lot of elk!!!

I hunted with Greg and Cassie Moats in October 2016. It was by far the best fully guided hunt I’ve ever been on. I was beyond satisfied with the experience! Greg & Cassie are 100% genuine good people. They worked EXTRA hard to put us on good bulls. To me a good hunt goes beyond taking a trophy bull. We had a great time in camp as well! We sat in the road with flat tires (stupid rock)! We walked several hundred miles it seemed like. We made memories that will last a lifetime! We also now have lifelong friends too! I’ve had the pleasure of hunting with Greg in his home state of WV & also in mine, NC! True friends! Excellent hunters! Looking forward to this October!!

I’m not usually a person that would send something like this but I thought you should know.
I told a friend of mine on the way out this year, that if this experience didn’t live up to what I was told, I was done using outfitters.
Well I had a great experience and not because I tagged out. I would have been happy with the experience even with a tag in my pocket at the end. The experience was exactly as you described, the country was beautiful and tough, we spent a lot of time on foot, camp and food was good and the people were great. You did a wonderful job of setting the expectations and then lived up to them. Brian, Greg, Trey and you worked your butts off for us. Your group has a passion for elk hunting and I can tell it’s not about the money, you care about the hunters, which isn’t that common from what I’ve seen. I’ve been with 2 other Colorado elk outfitters, 1 was okay and the other was horrible. Mountaineer Outfitters is the real deal and cares about the hunters for the right reasons.
I really enjoyed hunting and hiking with Brian, though I did ask him one time if he was part mountain goat. I enjoyed sitting and talking with Greg on Sunday night and I could see his passion. I was a little sad I left early but staying in camp with my tag already filled seemed a little selfish to me with my wife and kids at home.
If somebody asks me who to elk hunt with, I have no doubt who I will recommend.
I hope you all the success in the future and I hope I can come hunt with you again in the future.
